Refuse to choose!
The list of the things I want to do is as long as the things that I've done. Sports for example: Biking, Karate, Basketball, Volleyball, Golf, etc. I want to be good in all of them, and I did. But a certain point came that I just became bored with it, then I start another sport to do. I just can't seem to finish or stick to anything.
One ordinary day on my way to work, I passed by a bookstore and thought of looking through the books on a particular table that was in my plain view. "It would not take me 10 minutes." I thought. There were a lot of novels, I think all of them are. Then I stumbled upon a book that was different from the rest. The book seemed to be talking to me.
Book: "Don't know what to do with your life?"
Me: "If I say 'yes', that would be awful. So 'sort of' is appropriate."
Book: "Are you drawn to so many things you can't choose one?"
Me: "How did you know?"
Book: "Do you ache to find the right direction so you can settle down and just do it?"
Me: "Have you been reading my personal diary? Wait! I don't have one. Who are you?"
I've bought some books that was like this one, but this particular book is different. I saw myself as I flipped through the pages. I was surprised and found myself laughing from time to time whenever I get the thought of "That's just like me".
According to the author there are people who have intense curiosity about so many unrelated subjects. Individuals who think that sticking to one thing that she loves would be limiting and boring. The bottom line: They want to do so many things but just can't finish anything.
The author, Barbara Sher, gave a title for people like me: A Scanner.
Are you one of us? Are you also a Scanner? Do you also want to do so many things but you are always told to stick to one specialization?
Join me in reading her book: Refuse to Choose! and discover who you are and get equipped with the tools you need as a Scanner.

New place, new life.
Here's a photo of my home away from home.
The house is twice as big and the lot is thrice as big compared to our home in Laguna. I'm really blessed to have found this place. Big thanks to my friend Jimmy!

Just passing by..
Last Thursday I was scheduled to have my panel interview in Company 1 at 8:30am then another panel interview in Company 2 at 10am the same day. The interesting fact is that the owner of Company 1 is part owner of Company 2. Both companies have decided to hire me but I can only choose one. So, after some time of discussions, I've decided to stay with Company 1 thinking that there is a bigger opportunity for growth there. I informed Company 1 this morning and told Company 2 that I will not be going to their training just a few minutes ago. I had to overlook the fact that company 2 offers me a new car. I gave that up for professional growth since I was told that I will also get my new car in Company 1 after a year.
I will start training for my new job on Monday, the greatest thing is that the company office is just nearby, the not so good news is that my territory might be in Manila but at least I will not be as pressured studying during training and I think I can handle it once I am in the field.
I just hope that I will bet well very soon, it's already Friday afternoon and I only have a couple of days to rest.
I hope everyone is doing well!

Araw ng Kalayaan (Independence Day) June 12
English Translation:
Every year we celebrate the Independence day. But the question is, are the Filipino people really free? Don't think that I am here to criticize the corrupt politicians. They been in the field of corruption for so long because of the rotten systems. So, before we start blaming, who elected them to position? Us. The very people who are suffering. Let us change ourselves to change what needs to be changed in our country. Change should start from us. Don't accept bribes just to vote for someone this coming election. Please. Because you will be the one to suffer. They are not really buying your vote, they are buying your rights. Right to vote and choosing who to vote for, together with it are your rights as a citizen. Remember, the decision of who will be your partner to defend and protect your rights as a person and most of all, as a Filipino, is in your hands.
Let's help each other to reach our aspirations. Don't be a prisoner of a selfish mind. There is hope for our country.
Long live the Filipino! Long live the Philippines!

Lost Heart
Let me sway around a bit, Doctors cure, but Nurses heal. We are always the one in direct contact with the patient and relatives. We listen to their outburst and random thoughts. We touch them whenever necessary. We speak when needed. But I also realized that Nurses are under appreciated. People always talk about how good the doctors are, here in the Philippines at least. Come to think of it. Doctors only come to the patient's room once a day and spend 5-10 minutes with him/her, write his observations and orders and leaves. Then nurses carry the orders out. Then the thing is, when the order is erroneous and we failed to notice it, it backfires to the nurses. If the relative asks for their doctor and the doctor fails to make his rounds, we are in the crosshairs of the relatives. There was also this one time when a doctor told me "Don't you know that what I am doing is more important than what you do?!" in all his anger looking for the patient's chart when I was trying to finish my charting because I did his orders and I didn't know that he was already there looking for it. What the hell was that? Can he imagine a hospital without nurses? These are few of the things that I've come to realize. Going back to what I was talking about before. It feels really good just hearing your patient say "Thank you so much for looking after me" just as he is moving out of his room on a wheelchair. It was priceless the first time I heard it. It melted my heart and it was like a dose of epinephrine that suddenly boosted my already tired body from a long duty. I get this from time to time until I finished my degree but this was not enough to make me want to pursue nursing any further. Yes, I took the board exam, became a Licensed Nurse, now a licensed Intravenous Therapist but I still don't feel the contentment from all of it. I was like "Ok, so, I have finished all of these, now what?" Just before I started to write all of this down, I was thinking of having a job wherein I personally help people. Like being in WHO or something. I'm not really sure. I think since I took up nursing I lost my direction. I don't know where to go from here. I don't want to be a Nurse--for now.
**No offense to Doctors but these are based from my experience and I'm not saying that all of you are like that. I also have friends who are doctors and they are really nice. =)**

First day of training.
Don't get me wrong though, I still tried. I woke up early the following day to study, but I was just too tired. So I got back to sleep again and it was the end of it. Now. Again, I'm back hunting for a job. Tsk! So it was my first and last day of training.
Oh yeah, I just launched my second blog. It is all about cars. Well, it will be mostly cars here in the Philippines but I will try if I can cover others as well. Hope you will give it a visit.
Take care everyone!!

Job Hunt, 3
Total companies I applied for: 19. Three(Let's name them as A, B, and C with respect to the date they called.) of them called for initial interview. After a couple of days, the A and C called again for a final interview and so far company A already called for the start of training in my applied position. It will start on Monday but I'm expecting that company C will call next week also for my training since my interview with them also went well. I was interviewed there by a Malaysian and a Pinoy. The Malaysian was very aggressive in the interview but I was used to talking to people like that so I was able to handle the interview quite well. Maybe that was the reason the girl who was interviewed before me looked surprised and pale. Should they call next week, I might consider their company over company A since company B is a bigger company, I'm still not sure though.
While my interview in company B was disappointing because the interviewer was on a rush because she needs to be in a meeting a few minutes after the interview. I was the third one to be interviewed and the rest were asked to come back after lunch. The interview only lasted for 5 minutes--what the?! That's why I'm planning to write them a letter with regard to it. I think that was very unprofessional. Theys asked me to come in business attire at 9am and she even told me "Don't be late!". So guess what, I waited for almost two hours for a lousy 5 minute interview and without a call after that. Although I was told by a co-applicant, who happens to know someone from company B, that the reason the company was not able to call was everybody went to Baguio for a vacation and will comeback this Sunday.
Anyway, I was not able to take photos when I was in Manila. Sayang! But I promise to take photos when my training starts.

Job hunt, 2
Okay, I have applied to 17 companies in all and so far, 2 came back as under consideration.. at least, out of the hundreds that have applied, I’ve been noticed. (See! There’s hope!) I know I have a competitive resume but the weakness in it was my experience. I have no formal experience in work. I used to work for a photo shop every summer from 5th grade to 3rd year high. I was an all around helper in that shop. I process digital photos using a desktop, I also mix chemicals for the printer and film processor, became a sales clerk, cashier, printer technician, film processor, I even mop on my free time. But the best part was the free lunch and dinner. The pay is relatively high and I get a bonus for every 20 film rolls that we process. Back then, 60 rolls was an ordinary day for us, 100-160 rolls on weekends. So on sundays and saturdays, my bonus is bigger than my daily wage. Our manager was very loose on giving bonuses on their employees, we even eat out in fancy restaurants every sunday night. Somehow I miss those days when I don’t even take my work very seriously and tasks were easy. Maybe because I consider it as a ‘play’ rather than work. Well, I just hope that I will also feel that way on my future job.
It has been raining all day and it has been raining hard. I was supposed to personally visit one or two companies that I’ve applied to but the weather kept me from doing so and should I insist on doing so, I’ll just get stuck in heavy traffic. Hmm.. I just hope to hear from companies soon, I really need a job. I’m broke. Haha! But seriously, I’m almost at the brink of bankruptcy. Nah, would be overstating it. What I would really like to say is that I’ve been using my savings. Who uses their savings?(jobless people like me, haha!). I should not be calling it savings if I’m using it, right?
Anyway, for those who has been having a hard time getting a job, you are not alone. Just be smart in using your savings to survive. If you are really determined in getting out of that mud pit, you will. Keep your friends close for moral support and they might remember that they owe you money and pay you right there and then, like in my case. Haha! =)

My job hunt continues..
For some time now, I have been on the net non-stop looking for openings but only a handful of companies have opening on the job that I am targeting. So far, I have applied in 7 companies but none has called. The competition is tight, on one company there were 753 applicants, 369 on another. The number never goes under a hundred in every company. Today, I went to the job fair in a mall but almost all of the openings are for skilled workers and no job is available for my background.
Someone told me that it would be hard for me to get the job that I want because I have no experience in that field but I am determined to get that job because the pay is good. It will not make me rich but it’s above average and salary depends on the performance plus multinational companies offer a company car. I am thinking of going through smaller companies. They don’t offer a company car, initially, but the pay is almost as good and if you perform well, you get a chance to have a car. Not bad, right? But I am a little uncomfy just thinking that I will be going around my assigned area, walking, riding the bus or jeep from one destination to another. What will happen to me if it rains? If I don’t get soaked in rain; in sweat! While I need to keep myself neat and smelling good because I will be talking and presenting to professionals. Anyway, I will not give up! I can do this! ha!! =)
